Screen curtain iphone 8 turn off1/18/2024 But there are more accessibility features than that hiding in Apple's latest software update - and they're not just for users with disabilities. Thank you everyone for taking the time to post your bits of knowledge! Together, they helped me find my way out of a dark maze of technology bafflement.Apple previewed new cognitive, speech, and vision accessibility tools for the iPhone back in May, and they've finally been realized with the iOS 17 release. When I double tapped "Voice Over," it turned the feature off. I sometimes used the arrow keys to facilitate with this as well. And so on until I found myself on the home screen with the first icon in a box.ġ1) I dragged the box to the Settings Icon and then double tapped it to open Settings.ġ2) From there, it was a matter of getting that box onto General, double tapping, then Accessibility and then Voiceover. The number registered!ĩ) I dragged the box to the second number in my password.ġ0) I double tapped the "boxed" number. Progress!ħ) I dragged the box from "Enter Password" text and dragged it to the first number of my password on the number pad.Ĩ) I double tapped the number. Argh! BUT THEN, for some unknown reason, I figured out that when a box appears around text or an icon, I could take my finger and move that box to the icon I wanted to work with. When I touched the box, it would read "enter password" over and again. I found myself on the password screen.Ħ) There was a box around the words "Enter Password" at the top. Thank both the posters for suggesting that though. At some point I succeeded because the ipad said something about a password.ĥ) I triple tapped with three fingers to shut off Screen Curtain and this time it worked!!! It didn't at any other time before. Sometimes it said, "Slide to unlock."Ħ) I fumbled around trying to get the slider to unlock the ipad. For a second, I could sometimes see the faint numbers of the time on the screen lock screen.ĥ) I touched the dark screen and it said the time. But then the screen went black.Ĥ) I then took the advice of someone else on this forum, and went into a dark closet to see if my screen was actually very dark rather than black. In case anyone else finds themselves facing the same ordeal I did, here's how I did it:ġ) First try triple tapping with three fingers to see if it shuts off Screen Curtain.Ģ) If that doesn't work, try tapping four times with three fingers (neither of those worked for me, so here's what I did instead):ģ) I reset my ipad mini 1 like "Modular" said, using the home and power buttons for 10 seconds until the apple logo appeared. No one single suggestion from the forum worked, however, so I had to get creative. Using a combination of the posts on this forum, I was able to back out of it. Somehow, I found myself with an ipad that wouldn't do anything I said and at some point the screen went black and the ipad voice said, "Screen Curtain On." What? What a horror show this was. I decided to try VoiceOver to read some stuff on my ipad mini 1. I just went through this same terrifying ordeal.
